DOCTOR WHO’s Epic Win in Ratings

You were watching Doctor Who last weekend weren’t you? Because this past Saturday, more viewers prescribed to DOCTOR WHO than any other program in its time slot on Canadian television. Nearly 400,000 viewers clocked in at 9 p.m. ET for SPACE’s signature series, beating out competing Canadian conventional and specialty networks. W00t!
US Network Starz announced today that it will co-produce a new series of Torchwood with BBC Worldwide. The new 10-episode series will air in the summer of 2011, and will feature the return of both John Barrowman (Captain Jack) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper). New Installment From BBC Worldwide Productions to Add To Starz’ Premium Programming Lineup in Summer of 2011

Los Angeles, CA – June 7, 2010 – Starz Entertainment has acquired U.S. television rights to the next installment of the BBC’s audience sensation “Torchwood,” developed and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Starz will debut the 10-episode series exclusively in the U.S., and BBC One will debut it in the U.K., both in summer, 2011. This is a co-production between Starz, BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Worldwide, and BBC Worldwide will distribute the show outside the U.S. The deal was jointly announced today by Starz, LLC, President and CEO Chris Albrecht and BBC Worldwide Productions EVP Jane Tranter.
The stars of the previous versions of “Torchwood,” notably John Barrowman (Capt. Jack Harkness) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper), will return for the new version. Additional key cast, reflecting the more international scope of the series, will be announced soon.
An unconventional artist anchored an unusual episode as “Vincent and the Doctor”, written by Richard Curtis, graced our screens this week. Reaction on the internet made it seem like everyone either loved or hated the episode, but the Three Who Rule were…well, you’ll just have to listen to the episode to find out. However, Vincent and the Doctor was but one episode released this week thanks to City of the Daleks hitting computer screens… |

After a week off from the SPACE podcast (which also, like Doctor Who itself on SPACE, took last weekend off), the Three Who Rule were back in fine form to give their thoughts on Episode 6 of the new series of Doctor Who, The Vampires of Venice.
