In an announcement that surprised nobody, thanks to BBC America spilling the beans weeks ago, the BBC has announced Doctor Who will return to BBC One on 27 August, the same date as SPACE is airing it in Canada and BBC America the US. No specific time has yet been announced, however.
The BBC has issued a press release with this info but more interestingly they’ve also given synopses for all but the final episode of this latter half of Series 6. Extreme spoilerphobes should, as always, steer clear, but those who want to be tantalized should definitely have a look at the BBC press release.
Only 11 more days until new Who!
Update: The BBC Press Office has stated a 7:10 PM start time.
Torchwood continues its Miracle Day run with episode 6 and the lads sink their teeth into… well, there’s not much to sink their teeth into this week, is there? Nevertheless, rampant mastication of the worthy bits kills some time as we wait for more Doctor Who and for Torchwood to do something… anything. Also, lamentably, the Summer Classic Commentary Series comes to the end as the Three Who Rule tackle The Invasion’s latter episodes with their usual flare and panache and with the able assistance of their seagull frenemies. |

Can summer be winding down already? It seems so, and along with Torchwood: Miracle Day hitting the halfway mark in its run with another bang up episode (according to the Three Who Rule, who seem to be one of the few Who podcasts out there who are actually enjoying the series), the Summer Classic Commentary Series begins to wind down, as well. This week, Radio Free Skaro’s take on Episodes 1-4 of the 1968-69 epic The Invasion, which may or may not feature the Cybermen. Oh, and the return of new Doctor Who is now less than three weeks away… |

| A second Doctor Who DVD release has finally been announced for October 11, and interestingly it’s not a classic series story. Rather, it’s a massive new series release – the complete David Tennant years!
This 26-disc release covers all of David Tennant’s tenure as the Doctor, from the Pudsey Cutaway in 2005 to The End of Time Part Two in 2010; included is everything in between, even the animated stories The Infinite Quest and Dreamland. What doesn’t appear to be here, however, is any new content. Everything in this collection has been released previously, down to the bonus material such as Doctor Who’s Greatest Moments (which in reality was anything but). This set is no doubt designed for folks who’ve held out on buying the Tennant DVDs for whatever reason, or perhaps for fans who have come to the show with Matt Smith and want to bolster their DVD collection in one fell swoop. This release comes alongside the previously announced Revisitations, 3-disc version of The Talons of Weng-Chiang. Click the artwork for a larger version. SRP will be a whopping $199.98; check out TVShowsOnDVD.com for more details. Note: This article has been recreated due to a server issue. |
