Mind games, face huggers and tangerines…that’s what passes for Christmastime when the Doctor gets involved. Sarcastic elves, a sassy Santa, and questionably CG reindeer round out Doctor Who’s dip into surreality on this latest Xmas special, “Last Christmas”, from the pen of Steven Moffat and directed by Paul Wilmshurst. So what did the Three Who Rule, brains slowed by turkey and Tofurky, think of P-Cap’s first foray into Yuletide adventure? Down some egg nog, tear yourself away from erudite political discussion with the relatives, and have a listen!

Turn the clock back almost two years ago and you may remember that our very own Steven moderated two panels at Calgary Expo in April 2013 – the Torchwood panel with John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Gareth David-Lloyd (the panel took place in the Calgary Corral in front of about 4,000 people!) and the Sylvester McCoy panel. While both audio recordings of these appeared on previous Radio Free Skaro episodes, FlipOn TV has made professional video recordings of these events available on their YouTube page! Check them out below:

With mere days to not only “Doctor Who: Last Christmas” but also our review of said Xmas special and even more thrillingly, our Patreon-inspired (and cringe-inducing) commentary for the infamous 1993 Children in Need special “Dimensions in Time,” the Three Who Rule ably tackled the last Fluid Links segment of the year! Questions, inquiries, posers and puzzlers abound as this Series 8 focused Q&A takes centre stage for this pre-holiday bit of RFS shenanigans. Also news, dolly derision, comic book neatness and a cool teaser for a War Doctor short film coming next year! Whee!
– Series 9…First Episode Title Revealed!
Gallifrey One has announced a couple of big behind the scenes names as guests for the upcoming convention in less than two months’ time!
Rachel Talalay is an American-born US/UK dual citizen who actually teaches film studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. She has been involved in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise since the very beginning, and was hired to direct the two-part Series 8 finale, “Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven”. This will be Rachel’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
Arwel Wyn Jones was the supervising art director on Doctor Who from 2005’s “The Runaway Bride” through to the Series 4 finale “Journey’s End” in 2008. He also worked as production designer on The Sarah Jane Adventures for Series 2 and 3. Since 2010, he’s been the production designer for Steven Moffat’s other hit BBC show, Sherlock. This will be Arwel’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
Also announced was actor Colin Spaull, who appeared in 1985’s “Revelation of the Daleks” and the 2006 two-parter “Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel”. Check out the full list of guests on the Gallifrey One website. Stay tuned to Gallifrey One and Radio Free Skaro for future guest announcements!
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Last Christmas, which is dominating both our thoughts and the promotional efforts of the BBC Publicity department. Maybe that’s why most of our news is focused on that upcoming holiday where they show a new Doctor Who story and some other, largely irrelevant events rides its coattails. Plus there’s news of a Doctor Who theme park, which is greeted by the confusion and derision only three middle aged nerds with no concept of what the kids today are into could muster. All that questionable content, and an interview from Chicago TARDIS with the voice of the Daleks, Cybermen and countless other creatures, Nick Briggs, who is also one of the main creative forces behind Big Finish! What are you waiting for?

A big guest announcement today for the 26th edition of the Gallifrey One convention in February!
Alex Kingston first appeared in Doctor Who in 2008’s “Silence in the Library”, which was actually the last story for her character River Song. Since then, River’s timey wimey life has played out in reverse (for the most part) over the course of several episodes opposite Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, culminating in her final appearance (to date) in the 2013 episode “The Name of the Doctor”. This is Alex’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
With the Three Who Rule firmly back in place and order restored to the galaxy, there was great rejoicing and much waffling about next to nothing, not to mention the controversial and wrong headed use of the terms “P-Cap”, “J-Co,” and “S-Claw.” in reference to the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special “Last Christmas”. But wait! The main feature is an interview with Mickey Smith himself, Noel Clarke, by our very own Steven recorded live on stage at Chicago TARDIS. And and and….nerd rage from Warren about the highly important matter of the 3.75 inch dolly. Blasphemy!
