Commentary (Starts at 17:52):
Monthly Archives: June 2016
|Let’s just take it as read that there was no news this week of any consequence and move right to the main event. Director Rachel Talalay joins Steven and Warren this week for a commentary on “Heaven Sent”, the penultimate episode of this series of Doctor Who and, let’s be honest, one of the best episodes of the show ever to be produced, old or new. And next week she’s back with Hell Bent with Steven and Chris! But why are you reading this? Listen and enjoy!|
Commentary (Starts at 12:00):
Rachel Talalay, the award-winning director and who has helmed the finales of both Series 8 and Series 9 of Doctor Who, will be joining the Three Who Rule for director’s commentaries on her two Series 9 episodes, “Heaven Sent” and “Hell Bent”.
“Heaven Sent” has received considerable acclaim since its original broadcast, and in addition to being nominated for a 2016 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form), it is also eligible for Emmy Award nomination in the US. Rachel joins Steven and Warren for this commentary on Radio Free Skaro #533, which will be released on Sunday, June 12 at 2pm ET.
“Hell Bent” concludes the two-part finale, and features not only the return of Gallifrey, but the final regular appearance of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. Rachel joins Steven and Chris for this commentary on Radio Free Skaro #534, the release of which will occur on Sunday, June 19 at 2pm ET.
Note that no commentaries for these two episodes are available on the official Doctor Who Series 9 box set, so Radio Free Skaro will be the only place to hear Rachel Talalay give a commentary for these amazing episodes. We thank Rachel for her time and for her enthusiasm in recording these with us, and we hope you all enjoy them!
*Note: we watched the NTSC (Region 1) versions of these episodes, so the commentaries will run slightly slower when trying to sync with PAL (Region 2) or other versions.
|There’s very little news this week, as per usual, and what we do know comes from cons across the land, including Michelle Gomez talking about her future on the show at Fan Expo Dallas, and where Peter Capaldi also proved (once again) his fan bona fides with an amazing imitation of a scene from “Day of the Daleks”! But vast these mere baubles of information aside and drink in the thoughts of the Three Who Rule as they answer your questions with the return of….Fluid Links!|
