The 26 Seasons of Gallifrey One is set to take place from February 13-15 at the LAX Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles, California, and for the fourth year in a row, Radio Free Skaro is proud to kick off the convention on the main stage at 10:30am on Friday, February 13! The show will be called RADIO FREE SKARO: BEHIND THE MAGIC, and will feature a host of behind the scenes guests who have been responsible for making Doctor Who over the years! Appearing with us on stage will be:

Series 8 Panel, Featuring Rachel Talalay, Jamie Mathieson, and Peter Harness

Rachel Talalay (director of “Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven”), Jamie Mathieson (writer of “Mummy on the Orient Express” and “Flatline”), and Peter Harness (writer of “Kill The Moon”) lead off our show with tales and insight on the making of the most recent series of Doctor Who.

Andy Pryor

One of the first people contacted by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner to work on the new series of Doctor Who back in 2003, Andy Pryor has been involved in the casting of virtually every single actor to appear in Doctor Who for the past 8 series, including the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors.

Chip Sudderth of Two-Minute Time Lord

Our friend Chip (who is also our technical producer) returns to the stage this year with a presentation of his popular podcast Two-Minute Time Lord! Chip’s previous appearances have been very popular with audiences at the show and listening later on the podcast, and we’re delighted to welcome Chip back to the show.

Danny Hargreaves, Arwel Wyn Jones, and Claire Pritchard

As art director on Doctor Who, Arwel Wyn Jones spends his time making sure the sets and locations look good and believable. Danny Hargreaves, the special effects supervisor on Doctor Who, then comes along and blows it all up. Both aspects of making (and unmaking!) Doctor Who will be covered with these fine gentlemen, and Claire Pritchard will describe what goes into designing the makeup design on Doctor Who!

It all kicks off at 10:30am on Friday, February 13 in the Main Programming Hall at Gallifrey One. Get there early!

Stay tuned to Radio Free Skaro and radiofreeskaro.com for further details about the show, and visit the Gallifrey One website (www.gallifreyone.com) for updates on the convention itself. See you all there!

g26frontpage

A big guest announcement today for the 26th edition of the Gallifrey One convention in February!

alexkingston
Alex Kingston first appeared in Doctor Who in 2008’s “Silence in the Library”, which was actually the last story for her character River Song. Since then, River’s timey wimey life has played out in reverse (for the most part) over the course of several episodes opposite Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, culminating in her final appearance (to date) in the 2013 episode “The Name of the Doctor”. This is Alex’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.

Gallifrey One 2015 Guest Update – Dan Starkey, Ingrid Oliver, and More!

g26frontpage
More guests have been announced for the next edition of the Gallifrey One convention in February!

danstarkeyIn ajust a scant few episodes and specially recorded inserts, Strax the Sontaran, as played by Dan Starkey, has become the comedy heart of Doctor Who. Dan is a very popular convention guest, having last appeared at Gallifrey One in 2013.
ingridoliverIngrid Oliver played the character Osgood, an employee of UNIT and devotee to the legend known as The Doctor, in the 50th anniversary story “The Day of the Doctor”. She is also slated to appear later in Series 8, once again alongside fellow Gallifrey One attendee Jemma Redgrave. Like Jemma, this will be Ingrid’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
adjoaandohAdjoa Andoh played Martha Jones’ strong, stern mother Francine Jones in Series 3, reprising her role in “The Stolen Earth” and “Journey’s End” to close out Series 4. She also appeared, under heavy cat nun makeup, as Sister Jatt in the Series 2 story “New Earth”. This will be Adjoa’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
angelabruceAngela Bruce will be the second Brigadier to appear at Gallifrey One, the first being the legendary Nicholas Courtney who was a mainstay at Gallifrey One in the early days. Angela, of course, played Brigadier Winifred Bambera in the 1989 story “Battlefield”, alongside Courtney. This will be Angela’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.

Gallifrey One 2015 Guest Update – Jemma Redgrave, Series 8 Writers, and More

g26frontpage
It’s only September, yet even more great guests have been announced for the upcoming Gallifrey One convention in February!

jemmaredgraveA member of the legendary Redgrave family of acting, Jemma Redgrave has played Kate Stewart, the new head of UNIT, in “The Power of Three” and “The Day of the Doctor”, and will appear in the upcoming series finale of Series 8 this autumn. This will be Jemma’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
jamiemathiesonJamie Mathieson has made a career out of writing for science fiction TV series in the UK, penning episodes of Being Human and Dirk Gently, as well as writing the 2009 film “Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel”. Jamie has also written episodes 8 and 9 of this current series of Doctor Who.
peterharnessPeter Harness is new to writing Doctor Who with his Series 8 episode “Kill The Moon”, but he is by no means new to the show itself. A long time Doctor Who fan, Peter has also written for such notable TV programmes as Wallander. This will be Peter’s first Gallifrey One.
nickrobattoNick Robatto was props maker on Doctor Who on over 40 episodes from 2006-2011, and will bring his knowledge and experience of making the many props that the show requires to Gallifrey One. He joins previously announced crafts guests Mike Tucker and Danny Hargreaves.
nickbriggsNicholas Briggs has been a Gallifrey One veteran but is making his first appearance at the convention since 2013. The voice of the Daleks and the Cybermen, as well as the executive producer of Big Finish audioplays, Nick has always been a fan favourite at any convention he’s attended.
davidgoodersonDavid Gooderson had the unenviable task of filling Michael Wisher’s shoes (and Wisher’s face mask – literally!) in playing the role of Davros in 1979’s “Destiny of the Daleks”. However, we all (well, some of us) think that that story is an underrated gem, and Gooderson’s portrayal is key to that opinion. This will be David’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
Also announced were actor W. Morgan Sheppard, Keith Barnfather of Reeltime Productions (makers of several unofficial Doctor Who videos from the 1990s), Chase Masterson, and Arnold T. Blumberg. Check out the full list of guests on the Gallifrey One website. Stay tuned to Gallifrey One and Radio Free Skaro for future guest announcements!

Gallifrey One 2015 – Guest Update

g26frontpage
The second guest update for the 2015 edition of Gallifrey One has been announced, and there are some exciting names to talk about! Read on!

BurnGormanBurn Gorman is making his first appearance at Gallifrey One, taking time away from a busy career on the small screen and the silver screen to join us in Los Angeles. Known in the Doctor Who universe for his role as Owen Harper in “Torchwood”, Burn has gone on to appear in notable roles in Game of Thrones and Pacific Rim.
nevemcintoshNeve McIntosh has become a quick fan favourite at conventions, where she unleashes her bubbly personality that is usually hidden behind layers of latex and make-up in her role as Vastra, one of the semi-regular Paternoster Gang who will be making a return appearance in the upcoming Series 8 premiere “Deep Breath”. Neve first appeared at Gallifrey One in 2013.
jacquelinekingJacqueline King played the disappointed mother to Catherine Tate’s underachieving Donna Noble in the 2006 Christmas Special “The Runaway Bride”. Jacqueline would reprise the role in Series 4 and 2009-10′s “The End of Time”. 2015 will see the first appearance at Gallifrey One for Jacqueline.
MarkSheppardMark Sheppard has become a cherished regular at Gallifrey One, often appearing on a self-moderated panel with his father, actor William Morgan Sheppard. Mark played Canton Everett Delaware III in the opening two-parter of Series 6, but has crafted a career of appearing in many cult sci-fi shows over the years.
Deep RoyDeep Roy is famous in recent years for appearing in a variety of Tim Burton productions including Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and perhaps best know now as being Scotty’s alien companion Keenser in the new Star Trek films, Deep Roy played the role of Mr. Sin in the iconic 1977 serial “The Talons of Weng-Chiang”. He also appeared in the flesh as The Klute in the beloved Blake’s 7 episode “Gambit”. This will be Deep’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
garrickhagonGarrick Hagon is a Canadian actor by nature (born in London, but raised in Toronto), which makes him an automatic favourite amongst the Three Who Rule. However, he’s more famous in Doctor Who circles for his two roles in the programme, separated by 40 years. He played the lead guest role of Ky in 1972’s “The Mutants”, then returned to the show, playing Abraham the undertaker in 2012’s “A Town Called Mercy”. Of course, in the Star Wars universe, Garrick is famous for playing Biggs Darklighter, a character whose scenes were cut from the final release of the film, but who is mentioned by Luke on occasion, thus adding to Biggs’ legend for years! This will be Garrick’s first Gallifrey One.
miketuckerMike Tucker is one of the few people in the world who have worked on both the original series of Doctor Who and the new series. Mike is known for his visual effects work, and his FX team won awards and acclaim for its model work in the 50th anniversary story “The Day of the Doctor”. This will be Mike’s first Gallifrey One appearance.
marnix_van_den_broekeMarnix van den Broeke has the kind of presence where once you see him, then look away, you’ll forget that you ever met him. That might sound like an insult, but to Marnix, it’s a compliment to his role as the lead Silence in Series 6 and 7. The tall Dutchman will be making his first appearance at Gallifrey One.
philfordFriend of the Show Phil Ford has become one of the new regular writers at Gallifrey One, having only missed one convention since making his first appearance in 2009. Phil will have much to talk about this year with his Series 8 Doctor Who story slated to air on August 30.
derekritchieDerek Ritchie is returning for his second straight Gallifrey One appearance. The script editor for Series 8 of Doctor Who and a producer of Wizards vs Aliens, Derek had a wonderful time at his first convention appearance last year and it will be nice to welcome him back.

andypryorWhen Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner first set up shop to produce Doctor Who in 2004, casting director Andy Pryor was the person they hired, and Andy has been in that position to this day. This is Andy’s first Gallifrey One appearance.
dannyhargreavesDanny Hargreaves is another veteran of the Doctor Who production team, and has been in charge of the visual effects on Doctor Who for several series now. This is Danny’s first Gallifrey One appearance, and he may even be bringing some of his tricks of the trade along with him…
terrymolloyTerry Molloy wasn’t the first to play the role of Davros, the Daleks’ creator, but he has certainly made it his own, playing Davros onscreen three times, and several times since then in various Big Finish audio plays.
frazerhinesCan Gallifrey One even exist without Frazer Hines being there? Frazer Hines played Jamie McCrimmon, longtime loyal companion of the Second Doctor, and he is a loyal companion to Gallifrey One, as well.
christopherneameChristopher Neame, now based in Los Angeles, played Skagra, the main villain of the strike-cancelled “Shada”, which was supposed to close out Season 17 in 1980. sarahlouisemadisonYou might not know the face of Sarah Louise Madison without her costume on, but rest assured, she has scared the pants off of you. Sarah has played one (or more) of the Weeping Angels in every televised appearance of the menacing statues, including “The Time of Angels” and “The Angels Take Manhattan”. This will be Sarah’s first appearance at Gallifrey One.
Also announced were old favourites Gary Russell, Paul Cornell, Steve Roberts, Jason Haigh-Ellery, Scott Handcock, David J Howe, Sam Stone, and Tony Lee. Check out the full list of guests on the Gallifrey One website. Stay tuned to Gallifrey One and Radio Free Skaro for future guest announcements!
