Can summer be winding down already? It seems so, and along with Torchwood: Miracle Day hitting the halfway mark in its run with another bang up episode (according to the Three Who Rule, who seem to be one of the few Who podcasts out there who are actually enjoying the series), the Summer Classic Commentary Series begins to wind down, as well. This week, Radio Free Skaro’s take on Episodes 1-4 of the 1968-69 epic The Invasion, which may or may not feature the Cybermen. Oh, and the return of new Doctor Who is now less than three weeks away… |

The Almost People, part 2 of Doctor Who’s sentient play-doh saga initiated last week with The Rebel Flesh, proved to be only quasi-compelling to the RFS lads. Indifference shifted to both gasps of astonishment and grumblings of unhappiness at the “game-changing” cliffhanger to this week’s festivities…and we still have A Good Man Goes to War to look forward to next week (or the week after that, SPACE and BBC America viewers.) In the meantime, stats were examined, asteroid-eating goats invented, and Journey’s End was maligned with a naughty word. Just another normal day here at Radio Free Skaro. |

| It has been learned that due to the American Memorial Day holiday, BBC America will be delaying the broadcast of Doctor Who. Series 6 will get a gap between episode 5, The Rebel Flesh, and episode 6, The Almost People because of the long weekend. The Rebel Flesh will go out as expected this weekend, May 21, but The Almost People will not be seen until June 4.
As partial compensation for the delay, BBC America will be showing a Doctor Who marathon on May 28 featuring the entire run of Series 5 and all of Series 6 to that point, including an encore presentation of The Rebel Flesh, but skipping over A Christmas Carol. Unfortunately, SPACE has to follow BBC America’s lead and will also be preempting The Almost People on May 28, though instead of showing any Doctor Who at the usual 8:00 PM EDT time slot, SPACE is showing the Will Smith movie I, Robot. This development is disappointing, especially since both BBC America and SPACE fought so hard to get day and date transmissions of Doctor Who with the UK. Nothing is yet known how or if this may impact the latter half of the series to be broadcast this fall. |
Meredith Vieira of the Today Show on NBC dropped by the Doctor Who studios in Cardiff recently to, amongst other things, appear in a cameo on an upcoming episode of Doctor Who. Here’s her report as put together by the BBC team and aired on NBC’S Today Show on Monday, May 9.
SPOILER WARNING: There are some pretty big spoilers for an upcoming Doctor Who episode in parts of the first video. If you want to look away and plug your ears, do so from 0:36-0:50, and 5:15-5:23 (the latter comprises part of Vieira’s actual onscreen appearance on what looks to be Episode 8).
