Website Den of Geek is reporting that Torchwood: Miracle Day will begin its UK run on Thursday, July 14. The New World will go out at 9:00PM that day on BBC One, kicking off the new series in the UK, albeit 6 days behind the US broadcast on Starz and 5 days behind the Canadian broadcast on SPACE.
The BBC Press Office has yet to make any public statement regarding the UK launch of the series, though they have sent a release to news outlets explicitly stating the time & date of transmission.
Needless to say there has often been the ethical question relating to “other means” acquisitions of Doctor Who by those outside the UK before day and date transmissions became a reality; it will be interesting to see if any reports are published about such actions by UK residents looking to avoid the 6-day delay for Torchwood: Miracle Day. Given Doctor Who Magazine has also reported there will be at least minor differences between the US and UK versions, there may be another reason for folks in the UK to seek out those “other means” when it comes to Torchwood: Miracle Day, just as there may be for those outside the UK curious to see the UK versions of the episodes.
Many thanks to Simon Brew over at Den of Geek for the information required for this article.

SPACE, Canada’s home of Doctor Who and Torchwood, has just announced Torchwood: Miracle Day will be broadcast from July 9.
Torchwood: Miracle Day tells the story of what happens when one day nobody on Earth dies and the repercussions faced by humanity; it features the return of Capt Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper, played by John Barrowman and Eve Myles. Joining them are Mekhi Phifer as Rex Matheson, Bill Pullman as Oswald Danes, Lauren Ambrose as Jilly Kitzinger and Alexa Havins as Esther Drummond.
Torchwood: Miracle Day will occupy the 9PM ET time slot, an hour later than Doctor Who had this spring.
The series will premiere in the US on Starz on July 8 at 10PM ET/PT, however the BBC has yet to announce its broadcast schedule for the show.
With the end of Series 6.1 comes a time for reflection… and what better way to genuflect than with two of the members of Tachyon TV, Neil Perryman and John Williams? Fresh off “A Good Man Goes to War,” the houses of Tachyon and Skaro offered their (somewhat surprisingly) sunny and pleasant feelings towards the last batch of Who stories we’ll see until the fall, as well as digressing about Neil’s ongoing Adventures With the Wife in Space blog (read by none other than Doctor Who production team head Steven Moffat, amongst others) and other matters of import. A small note; the Tachyon TV segment was recorded before fan controversy erupted for the umpteenth time over next year’s schedule of shows, so that issue was (thankfully) never raised amongst the good feelings and bonhomie. |

Yesterday, Starz released a series of character profiles for Torchwood: Miracle Day and scattered them across the web. Each looked at one of 6 major characters – Capt Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Rex Matheson, Oswald Danes, Esther Drummond and Jilly Kitzinger – for about a minute apiece. Today Starz released an amalgamated version of those profiles, and here it is!
