• Radio Free Skaro #497 – A Fifth Of Beethoven

"Before the Flood" left Warren baffled and Steven and Chris intrigued, but what else did your three hosts think of the second episode of Toby Whitehouse’s brain-twisting two-parter? Did the paradoxes and guitar solos excite or infuriate them? More to the point, what developments in both LEGO, Big Finish audios ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #496 – The Underwater Menace

Doctor Who dives beneath the waves for “Under the Lake,” a base under siege story with ghosts, flash cards and British Sign Language….but what did Steven, Warren and Chris think of the first part of this soggy saga? More to the point, what is their hot take on “Class,” the ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #495 – A Frown Called Mercy

  • Radio Free Skaro #494 – The Boy Who Would Be King

An old enemy returns (or two!) in "The Magician’s Apprentice", the first new Doctor Who in many months and the premiere episode of Series 9. Daleks and Missy and Davros, oh my! What did the Three Who Rule think? And what did they have to say about Jenna Coleman leaving ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #493 – Another Brick In The Wall

One week to go until Doctor Who Series 9 premieres, and what better way to rev up the hype engines than a rather cryptic prologue featuring P-Cap, Karn and Ohila, last seen in “The Night of the Doctor”? In fact, all manner of activity is rolling to the boil in ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #492 – The Log Driver’s Waltz

With only two weeks to go before we get new Doctor Who, the news is coming fast, including a new trailer for Episode 1 "The Magician’s Apprentice", a (very short and mysterious) video from Series 9 finale director Rachel Talalay, the upcoming DVD release of "The Underwater Menace" (!) and ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #491 – And Introducing Maisie Williams As The Doctor

Back from the Hugo Awards and reunited once more, the Three Who Rule have a grab bag of newsiness this week, including the sad cancellation of the New York Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular “for reasons”, Peter Davison’s upcoming autobiography, and more! But the main feature of this week’s episode is ...

  • Radio Free Skaro Patreon Special #2: Dr. Who and the Daleks Commentary

Peter Cushing is known to many as the face of Hammer Horror or Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars. But to a generation of British kids caught in the frenzied madness known as Dalekmania in the mid-1960s, he was also Dr. Who, kindly professor and non-canonical Time Lord battling the ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #490 – Smoke on the Water

Another Hugos has come and gone, and with it two-thirds of the Radio Free Skaro crew can cross “host pre and post show at the Hugos and ad-lib for almost a half hour during same” off their bucket list. Though the Hugos were…dogged with controversy, in the eye of the ...

  • Radio Free Skaro #489 – Revolution 9

A new trailer for Series 9 of Doctor Who was released this week, simultaneously stoking and dampening the fires of Steven and Warren’s clinically insane theories regarding the upcoming Capaldis of Pompeii story/rumour/nonsense. But more lunacy awaits, with Tom Baker intoning that he is joining the Star Wars universe (!?), ...

Starz has released an 11-minute sneak peek of Torchwood: Miracle Day including a bunch of footage from the series. Have a look!

Website Den of Geek is reporting that Torchwood: Miracle Day will begin its UK run on Thursday, July 14. The New World will go out at 9:00PM that day on BBC One, kicking off the new series in the UK, albeit 6 days behind the US broadcast on Starz and 5 days behind the Canadian broadcast on SPACE.

The BBC Press Office has yet to make any public statement regarding the UK launch of the series, though they have sent a release to news outlets explicitly stating the time & date of transmission.

Needless to say there has often been the ethical question relating to “other means” acquisitions of Doctor Who by those outside the UK before day and date transmissions became a reality; it will be interesting to see if any reports are published about such actions by UK residents looking to avoid the 6-day delay for Torchwood: Miracle Day. Given Doctor Who Magazine has also reported there will be at least minor differences between the US and UK versions, there may be another reason for folks in the UK to seek out those “other means” when it comes to Torchwood: Miracle Day, just as there may be for those outside the UK curious to see the UK versions of the episodes.

Many thanks to Simon Brew over at Den of Geek for the information required for this article.

SPACE, Canada’s home of Doctor Who and Torchwood, has just announced Torchwood: Miracle Day will be broadcast from July 9.

Torchwood: Miracle Day tells the story of what happens when one day nobody on Earth dies and the repercussions faced by humanity; it features the return of Capt Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper, played by John Barrowman and Eve Myles. Joining them are Mekhi Phifer as Rex Matheson, Bill Pullman as Oswald Danes, Lauren Ambrose as Jilly Kitzinger and Alexa Havins as Esther Drummond.

Torchwood: Miracle Day will occupy the 9PM ET time slot, an hour later than Doctor Who had this spring.

The series will premiere in the US on Starz on July 8 at 10PM ET/PT, however the BBC has yet to announce its broadcast schedule for the show.

Radio Free Skaro #258 – Click here to listen

With the end of Series 6.1 comes a time for reflection… and what better way to genuflect than with two of the members of Tachyon TV, Neil Perryman and John Williams? Fresh off “A Good Man Goes to War,” the houses of Tachyon and Skaro offered their (somewhat surprisingly) sunny and pleasant feelings towards the last batch of Who stories we’ll see until the fall, as well as digressing about Neil’s ongoing Adventures With the Wife in Space blog (read by none other than Doctor Who production team head Steven Moffat, amongst others) and other matters of import. A small note; the Tachyon TV segment was recorded before fan controversy erupted for the umpteenth time over next year’s schedule of shows, so that issue was (thankfully) never raised amongst the good feelings and bonhomie.

Yesterday, Starz released a series of character profiles for Torchwood: Miracle Day and scattered them across the web. Each looked at one of 6 major characters – Capt Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Rex Matheson, Oswald Danes, Esther Drummond and Jilly Kitzinger – for about a minute apiece. Today Starz released an amalgamated version of those profiles, and here it is!
