An underrated gem, in our opinion, 1979′s Nightmare of Eden was one of the more tumultuous productions in Doctor Who’s long history, an aspect of which will no doubt be covered in the extensive extras that were cleared by the BBFC just last week.

Two Sylvester McCoy stories that will form The Ace Box in the UK will be released separately here. The 1987 story Dragonfire, featuring Sophie Aldred’s debut as Ace, and The Happiness Patrol from 1988, featuring one of the more memorable Who villains, The Kandyman, will also hit the shelves.

Christmas has come and gone for another year, and Santa Claus has delivered another Doctor Who special for us all to devour like so much poorly digested turkey. Steven Moffat’s The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe certainly wasn’t the centrepiece of a holiday feast for the Three Who Rule, but more of a side dish of undercooked mashed potatoes that failed to elicit any strong reaction from any of the Three. Even multiple references to that most treasured of classic Who stories, The Caves of Androzani, couldn’t prevent this year’s special from being eclipsed by last year’s momentous A Christmas Carol, mentioned here only to provide this write-up a high note to end on. Here’s another depressing note, though: no more new Doctor Who for about nine months…

Both of these titles have already been released in the UK, and of course Planet of the Daleks features the much-anticipated recolourized version of Episode 3 while the Remembrance of the Daleks Special Edition is the version previously found in the UK-only Davros box set from a couple years back. Suggested retail price for Remembrance of the Daleks will be $24.98 while the Dalek War box set will set you back $59.98 at SRP.
